Former Hartlepool United man excited to return

Hartlepool United are thrilled to announce the return of Brad Young on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season, pending National League approval.

The goalkeeper makes his return to The Prestige Group Stadium after originally graduating from the Pools Academy in 2019, when he signed his first professional contract.

Young joined Premier League side Leicester City in 2021 and gained National League experience with a loan spell at Notts County the following year.

Now 22 and capped at youth level for England, Young comes back to the North East for the remainder of the 2024/25 season to strengthen Darren Sarll’s goalkeeping options.

Upon his return to Pools, Young expressed:

“I’m thrilled to be back – as a local lad who came through the Academy, this opportunity means a lot to me. I know how much success on the pitch means to the fans and the community, so I hope we can build something special this year and create a real buzz around the town. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Pools manager Darren Sarll commented:

“Brad embodies the kind of signing we’ve aimed for all summer. He’s a talented player with a great personality and a clear understanding of what it means to play for Hartlepool and in the North East. He immediately strengthens our squad.

“We’ve been patient with our goalkeeping recruitment, and I’m delighted to have Brad on board to add even more competition. Defensively, we’ve made a solid start, and now we have a highly competitive goalkeeping department that will push all of our goalies to perform at their best.

“I’ve followed Brad’s career closely from afar, and now I’m excited to work with him directly. I hope he has a fantastic experience with us, and I’m confident our incredible supporters will give him the warm homecoming he deserves.”
