Slipknot’s member in hospital with ‘serious burns’ after explosion

Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is currently receiving treatment in the hospital for “serious burns” after being caught in a bonfire explosion on his farm in Iowa. The 47-year-old musician shared the news through an Instagram video from his hospital bed, reassuring fans that he will be “OK.”

In the video, Wilson, lying in a hospital bed, showed the burns on his face and arms as medical staff attended to his injuries. “Hi everybody, I had an explosion in my face. I’m OK, I’m going to be OK. But I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms,” he said.

Wilson mentioned that he was getting his chest X-rayed to check for any potential inhalation of flames and displayed his singed eyebrows, moustache, and blistered mouth and arms. He assured fans, “I’m going to be all right you guys. I don’t care what it takes, I will see you on tour.”

In a follow-up video posted while being transferred to a specialist facility, Wilson confirmed he was doing “pretty good” and was in “good hands.” He explained that the injuries were caused by remnants of a bonfire he had burned on his farm the previous night.

Friends and fans, including Korn’s Jonathan Davis and Brian Welch, DJ Premier, and System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian, shared their well-wishes in the comments. Odadjian wrote, “Damn brother, that looks painful. Hope you heal quickly. We’re out here sending you positive thoughts.”

Despite his injuries, Wilson’s bandmates stated that he still plans to join Slipknot for their performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Oklahoma next weekend. His girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, also cautioned others about the dangers of burn piles in a video from his hospital bedside.

Slipknot later released a statement on Instagram about Wilson’s accident, saying, “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body. He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes and will see you all soon.”

Slipknot is set to embark on a global tour starting in September, with dates in the US and South America before heading to Europe. The UK leg of their tour will kick off in December, with shows in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, and London.
