Rotherham United Eying Championship Talent

Sheffield United youngster Sydie Peck is reportedly a loan target for Rotherham United, according to the Rotherham Advertiser.

Sheffield United now faces a decision regarding the immediate future of the midfielder. The Blades, aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League under Chris Wilder, have secured four points from their first two matches against Preston North End and QPR.

Peck, 19, has been involved in all three of Sheffield United’s games this season, coming off the bench in both league fixtures and appearing in the Carabao Cup tie against Wrexham at home.

The Rotherham Advertiser reports that the Millers are keen on securing a loan deal for Peck before the transfer window closes next Friday.

Rotherham United might see Peck as a valuable addition to strengthen their midfield.

A loan move would offer him the opportunity to gain regular playing time, which would be crucial for his development. Peck progressed through the academy ranks at Arsenal, where he was a regular at various youth levels for the Premier League club.

The former England youth international made the move from London to Sheffield in 2021, joining the Blades. In 2022, he was loaned to Oldham Athletic to further his development, where he made nine appearances in the National League before returning to South Yorkshire.

Peck made his debut for Sheffield United in a league match against Brentford last year. Despite his involvement with Chris Wilder’s squad this season, his chances of securing a regular spot in the starting XI remain slim.

What next for Rotherham United target?
Rotherham United would be an ideal temporary home for Peck. He wouldn’t have to move and would link up with a side eyeing promotion from League One under the experienced Steve Evans.

It has been a slow start to the season for the Millers and they haven’t scored in their first two outings.

They will be looking to hit form soon though and the arrival of someone like Peck would inject some more quality into their ranks.
