Leicester Tigers man excited to return

Leicester Tigers hooker Julián Montoya returned to international play on Saturday, August 17, leading Argentina as captain against New Zealand in the second round of the 2024 Rugby Championship.

Los Pumas faced a formidable challenge in New Zealand, trying to end the hosts’ remarkable winning streak at Eden Park. However, the All Blacks secured a 42-10 victory, extending their record to 50 consecutive wins at the venue.

In other Rugby Championship action, Handré Pollard played a key role in South Africa’s continued dominance at the top of the tournament standings, contributing to their 30-12 victory over Australia in Perth.

Pollard came off the bench to help seal the win for the Springboks, who now have 10 points heading into a highly anticipated matchup against the All Blacks in Pretoria on Saturday, August 31 (kick-off: 4pm BST).

Additionally, two Leicester Tigers Academy players were part of England Under-18s’ close victory over Georgia. Prop Diamond Ayiehfor started at tighthead, while fellow front-rower Ben Beere came off the bench, helping the team secure a 27-20 win on Friday, August 16.
