Bellamy has revealed the unusual thing he intends to do to Storm players over final weeks of season

Craig Bellamy, the head coach of the Melbourne Storm, has confirmed plans to potentially rest some of his key players during the final weeks of the 2024 NRL season.

With the Storm having secured a top-four finish and holding a strong position in the race for the minor premiership, Bellamy acknowledged the importance of managing player fatigue while maintaining momentum heading into the finals.

Bellamy emphasized the strategic advantage of finishing in the top two, which would secure home games in the finals, and mentioned that the decision to rest players might be staggered over the next three games rather than all at once.

He also highlighted the delicate balance between resting players to keep them fresh and the risk of losing momentum heading into the finals.

Resting players is a strategy Bellamy has employed before, but he noted that it would involve input from both the coaching staff and the players themselves. Some players, such as Josh King, are known for their relentless work ethic and desire to play, which could make the decision to rest them more challenging.

The Storm’s upcoming games against the Dolphins, North Queensland Cowboys, and Brisbane Broncos will likely see a mix of player rotations as Bellamy and his staff prepare for the finals while ensuring their squad remains in peak condition.
