A new proposal for a house in multiple occupation (HMO), which includes converting a garage into a flat, has been submitted in High Wycombe.

Howarth Property has applied to Buckinghamshire Council for permission to add an extra room to an existing six-bedroom HMO at 223 West Wycombe Road.

The applicant stated that reconfiguring the space to create seven bedrooms would “provide improved accommodation for residents.”

As part of the proposal, the former garage at the property would be transformed into a separate one-bedroom flat.

The applicant also noted that improvements to the front of the site now allow for the “comfortable” accommodation of four cars.

The improvements come after a previous application for similar changes to the house was rejected by planners in 2022.

At the time, officers stated, “The development proposal would intensify the residential use of the application site to an extent that it would give rise to a significant shortfall in car parking provision. The anticipated shortfall, together with the lack of an internal turning area, would have the potential to cause undue disruptions to the flow of traffic along West Wycombe Road.”

In response to the refusal, the applicant noted that eight covered cycle parking spaces have since been added to the property’s rear garden.
