Chelsea on high alert as £68m setback reignites the transfer race for Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea may need to move swiftly to secure the signing of Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, as interest from other European clubs intensifies.

Chelsea has spent heavily this summer, bringing in nine new signings so far, and Enzo Maresca is planning for even more additions. Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Filip Jorgensen are among those who have pledged their future to the Chelsea project.

Victor Osimhen is widely regarded as Chelsea’s top striker target, with ongoing discussions about a potential swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and the Nigerian international.

Negotiations have been underway for several weeks without any indication that a deal is imminent, so the injury to Paris Saint-Germain forward Gonçalo Ramos has likely raised alarm bells at Stamford Bridge.

The Ligue 1 side have long been admirers of Osimhen and are now expected to enter the striker market for reinforcements, especially since they are likely to be without their No. 9 for an extended period of time.

According to RMC Sport, PSG have decided to sign another forward, anticipating that Gonçalo Ramos will be sidelined for at least three months. Concerns are mounting at the Parc des Princes that their £68 million signing (£55m plus £13m in add-ons) may have sustained serious ligament damage to his left ankle.

The Ligue 1 club had previously determined that pursuing Osimhen was unnecessary with Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani available. However, with Ramos now sidelined, securing a deal with Napoli for Osimhen has likely become a serious consideration.

PSG are not lacking in funds, and if they decide that pursuing Osimhen is the best option in the market, they are unlikely to hesitate in making a very lucrative offer—much to Chelsea’s disappointment.
