Stanley have secured midfielder on a loan deal from Bolton Wanderers until January.
The player who played under Ged Brannan at Morecambe last season, has been involved with Bolton’s first-team squad during pre-season and even scored against Chorley.
“I am happy to be here and ready to get started,” Nelson Khumbeni said on the club’s website. “I’ve enjoyed my time at every club I’ve been with, and now that I’m here, I’m looking to build on that experience, perform well for both myself and the team, play as many games as possible, and continue improving.”
“I consider myself an all-round midfielder—I can handle the tough tasks, create chances, and play effectively,” Khumbeni said.
“I’ve played here a few times with different teams, and the atmosphere has always been fantastic. I’m eager to meet the fans and start playing.
“It’s great to come in and see familiar faces like Faz Rawson and Donald Love. It makes settling in much easier. As a young player entering a new environment, having Donald and Faz, who welcomed me at Morecambe, makes me hopeful that the same will happen here.
“I also get along well with Ged. At Morecambe, he understood me, especially coming off an injury. He gradually eased me into the team and knew me as a person, so it was an easy decision to join Accrington when he reached out.”
Manager John Doolan is enthusiastic about working with the young midfielder and believes he will positively impact the squad.
“We know Nelson well. We’ve observed Bolton’s first team and B team, and Ged’s influence was significant since Nelson played under him at Morecambe last season,” Doolan said.
“He will bring additional power, pace, and skill to our squad. He’s a strong midfielder who can pass, break lines, and his left foot is an added advantage. I’m excited to work with him.
“He has previously scored against us, and I hope he continues that form with us once he puts on our shirt.”
