JUST NOW: New injury worry for Walsh revealed

The Broncos have received a major setback as Reece Walsh has been diagnosed with a hand fracture following his team’s NRL win over the Cowboys on Saturday. Walsh played a crucial role in the Broncos’ comeback, helping them secure a 42-18 victory with a strong second-half performance.

Walsh, along with Kotoni Staggs, spearheaded the fightback, giving the Broncos a slim chance of making the finals. Currently sitting 12th on the ladder, the club will earn two points this weekend due to their bye.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Broncos may have to continue their season without their key attacking player, as Walsh could be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a metacarpal fracture. “Reece has sustained a metacarpal fracture, and we will consult a specialist to determine the next steps,” said David Ballard, the Broncos’ head of performance.

Reports suggest that Walsh might have sustained the fracture when Cowboys back Valentine Holmes tackled him after sprinting out of the line. Walsh was visibly in pain throughout the match, a situation compounded by recent criticism from fans and his apparent struggles with his body following State of Origin.

Reece Walsh has faced significant criticism this season, despite his efforts to play through multiple injuries. During the win against the Cowboys, he was again noted for grimacing in pain and clutching his hand, yet he continued to perform strongly.

In the 42-18 victory, Walsh contributed with two try assists, six tackle busts, and two line break assists. Unfortunately for the Broncos, it is highly likely that Walsh will be unavailable for their next game as he recovers from his hand injury.
