JUST IN: Wests Tigers confirm new signing from rival club, more signings to come

The Wests Tigers have officially announced the addition of a new player from a rival club as they continue to reshape their roster under the guidance of Shane Richardson and Benji Marshall.

Jeral Skelton, a talented winger from the Canterbury Bulldogs, has signed a two-year contract with the Tigers that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026 NRL season.

This move follows Skelton’s impressive performances in the NSW Cup and his limited NRL appearances. Despite his potential, he has been behind Josh Addo-Carr, Jacob Kiraz, and Blake Wilson in the Bulldogs’ lineup.

Skelton, who transitioned from rugby union to league and hails from Queensland, has scored three tries in six NRL games and 24 tries in 34 reserve-grade matches.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I’m really excited about this decision,” Skelton said. “I believe Wests Tigers have a very bright future, and being a part of that is thrilling.

“Of course, I want to finish this season strongly with my current team, but I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates during the pre-season.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Jeral and his family to our club for the next two seasons,” said head coach Benji Marshall. “We’re impressed with what he brings on the field and the character he displays off the field. We’re looking forward to having him join us in 2025.”

In announcing Skelton’s move from the Bulldogs, the Wests Tigers also stated that “additional signings will be revealed in the coming days as the club works to bolster its depth in key positions.”
