JUST NOW: Man dies after car hits tree on Straight Mile near Rugby

A man in his twenties has died after his car crashed into a tree in Warwickshire. The single-vehicle collision occurred on the B4453 Straight Mile near Rugby at around 4:35 PM BST on Sunday.

Despite the efforts of two ambulances, an air ambulance, and a paramedic officer, West Midlands Ambulance Service reported that nothing could be done to save him.

Warwickshire Police have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as officers had reportedly spoken to the man shortly before the collision. The nature of this contact and the circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the moments leading up to the crash to come forward.
