BREAKING NEWS: Havenfield Road in High Wycombe closed off due to a ‘serious incident

A 45-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a ‘serious incident’ in the town.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, officers responded to a scene on Havenfield Road, where a confrontation led to two people being stabbed.

A 41-year-old man and a woman were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they remain. Their injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

In addition to the 45-year-old man’s arrest, a 41-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, also from High Wycombe, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

Detective Chief Inspector Holly Stockwell, from High Wycombe police station, said: “I understand incidents like this can cause concern within the community, but I want to reassure the public that, at this stage of the investigation, we believe the victims and the offender knew each other, and there is no wider threat to the public.”

Officers have been at the scene since midnight and are expected to remain in the area for some time. Stockwell also clarified that there is no believed connection to an earlier incident in High Wycombe two weeks ago on Amersham Road.

“We have a scene-watch in place that will remain for some time, and if you have any concerns, please feel free to speak with one of our officers at the scene. One of the main pathways is also cordoned off. If you have any information or believe you witnessed this incident, please speak to officers or contact us online or via 101, quoting reference 43240385152.

“If you prefer not to speak directly with the police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.”
