No new forward: Millwall FC must avoid these 2 transfer scenarios before August 30th

Millwall head coach Neil Harris still has work to do on his squad before the summer transfer window closes, as he aims to build on his strong performance at the end of last season.

Reappointed in February, Harris took charge with the club teetering on the edge of a relegation battle in the Championship. Under his leadership, the team secured eight wins out of 13 games, climbing the table and putting any fears of relegation firmly behind them.

The 47-year-old has already made some key signings this summer, including striker Macauley Langstaff from Notts County, defender Japhet Tanganga on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur, and goalkeeper Lukas Jensen from Lincoln City.

However, Harris is aware that more additions are necessary before the transfer window closes if Millwall is to have the quality and depth needed to compete in the top half of the Championship during the 2024/25 season. West Bromwich Albion midfielder Jayson Molumby has been linked with a potential move to The Den.

Here are a couple of things the Lions must avoid in the coming weeks.

No new forward option is signed

Harris has prioritized signing another forward for Millwall. With the current striking options including Langstaff, Kevin Nisbet, and Tom Bradshaw—and given that Harris employed a two-striker system last season—the team could benefit from adding another player to bolster that area of the pitch.

The need for additional creativity has become even more pressing with Zian Flemming set to miss the start of the season due to a calf injury. With the opening day clash against Watford at The Den looming, securing another creative player as soon as possible is crucial.

In an interview with the South London Press, Harris discussed the situation, emphasizing that he needs to be patient as he works to finalize his transfer business before the deadline at the end of August.
