JUST IN: Halifax complete the signing of goalkeeper

The 20-year-old goalkeeper has joined after leaving Rotherham United, where he had been since the age of nine.

Ford’s father, Stuart, was also a goalkeeper for The Millers, but Nat did not manage to break into the first team. He signed his first professional contract with the club in April of last year and was a standout performer for the team that reached the Youth Alliance Cup final. At the time, then-Rotherham manager Matt Taylor told the Rotherham Advertiser, “His displays for the under-18s have been excellent. He’s quite mature and is a good size.”

Ford, who was on trial at Halifax during pre-season, will serve as backup to Town’s first-choice goalkeeper and captain, Sam Johnson.

Town boss Chris Millington commented to the Courier, “He’s a very solid character, much like Sam Johnson: dependable, makes saves, and goes about his work quietly. He will be a valuable addition to the squad.”
