Miami Dolphins have former HBCU star on top of LB depth chart

A former HBCU football star, Quinton Bell, is set to start at linebacker when the Miami Dolphins face the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. Bell, who played his college football at Prairie View A&M University, is listed as the top outside linebacker on the depth chart for the game.

Bell’s college career at Prairie View A&M showcased his versatility and athleticism. Initially a wide receiver, he switched to defensive end in his senior year, where he became a standout in the SWAC.

His impressive speed and pass-rushing skills caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection by the Oakland Raiders in the 7th round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

In his early NFL career, Bell contributed primarily on special teams with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing a role in their Super Bowl LV victory. He continued his NFL journey with the Atlanta Falcons and signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2023.

Now, he is poised to gain significant playing time with the Dolphins. Bell’s journey highlights the potential for HBCU athletes to excel at the professional level, particularly when given opportunities to showcase their talents across various positions.
