What Antonio Rudiger did following Chelsea’s pre-season loss to Real Madrid

Rudiger left Chelsea for Real Madrid on a free transfer two years agoch, and the central defender likely has no regrets about departing Stamford Bridge. At Real Madrid, he has already secured several major trophies, including the Champions League last season. Despite this, the Germany international has not forgotten his former club. After his team’s 2-1 win against Maresca’s side, he obtained a few new Chelsea shirts.

Numerically, the new Chelsea manager certainly has options. When everyone is fit, Maresca will have Levi Colwill, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Axel Disasi available for the center-back positions. If Renato Veiga does not go out on loan, the 21-year-old is also another name for the Italian to consider.

However, none of Chelsea’s current center-halves are as experienced or as aggressive as Rudiger, who is 31. Their defense has not been the same since he left the club. Supporters now hope that new signing Adarabioyo can make the kind of impact Rudiger once did during his time in west London. While Chelsea are pleased with Adarabioyo’s arrival, fans have been less impressed by his and the rest of the defense’s performances in pre-season.
