Sheffield Wednesday could complete seven-figure transfer deal in ‘next 48 hours’ – Danny Rohl

Sheffield Wednesday are poised to announce their 10th signing of the summer.

The club is set to take their summer signings into double figures shortly. So far, manager Danny Rohl has welcomed nine new players to Hillsborough: James Beadle, Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, Nathaniel Chalobah, Olaf Kobacki, Jamal Lowe, and Charlie McNeill.

Additionally, several key players whose contracts expired last summer have re-signed with the club, including Di’Shon Bernard, Josh Windass, Dominic Iorfa, Barry Bannan, and Liam Palmer.

The Sheffield Wednesday first-team squad seems well-prepared for the upcoming season, with a challenging opener against Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle at Hillsborough next weekend. Before the start of the 2024/25 Championship season, Rohl is likely to welcome another new signing, as the club is tipped to complete a seven-figure transfer deal in the coming days.

Sheffield Wednesday have been pursuing a new striker all summer, particularly aiming to re-sign Ike Ugbo on a permanent deal from Troyes. The 25-year-old Canadian international scored seven goals in 18 Championship appearances during his loan spell with the Owls in the second half of last season.

While recent reports indicated that Sunderland had taken the lead in the race to sign Ugbo, it now appears that Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the deal, having previously agreed to a £2.5 million fee with Troyes. Journalist Alex Miller revealed on X that Sheffield Wednesday have “pushed on in their pursuit” of Ugbo and that a deal could be finalized within the “next 48 hours.”
