Mark Robins makes shocking Coventry City admission amid injury update ahead of season opener

Mark Robins has declared that Coventry City are “ready” for the new Championship season with a week to go before the 2024/25 kick-off at Stoke.

The Sky Blues concluded their pre-season program with an engaging 2-1 defeat against German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen at the CBS Arena, where Haji Wright made a welcome return from injury.

There was positive news after the game regarding captain-elect Ben Sheaf (ankle) and winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues (thigh), the team’s two remaining casualties from the warm-up schedule.

“They’re not far away at all now,” said Robins when asked for an update on Sheaf and Borges Rodrigues. “I am hoping to have everyone in and training before the Stoke game, and we’re pretty happy to have come through today without any further injuries.

“Even though not all of them have played 90 minutes, they are all there and ready to go. And to get through that game unscathed is a real bonus. We have played two games back-to-back here, which was really important, especially for the new players to get acquainted with the place.”
