Hartlepool United manager Darren Sarll refuses to rule out a move for winger

Hartlepool United manager Darren Sarll acknowledges that a deal for winger Dylan Mottley-Henry remains a possibility.

The 27-year-old has played for various clubs throughout his career, including three separate spells at Bradford and stints at Tranmere, Chesterfield, and Harrogate. Recently, he’s been playing for National League North sides.

Despite his less-than-stellar CV, Mottley-Henry has impressed during his time in the North East, scoring in consecutive games and catching the eye of supporters with his pace, energy, and enthusiasm. In a recent match against Scunthorpe, he made an immediate impact by scoring shortly after being introduced but had to leave the field due to a collision with the advertising hoardings, resulting in a hamstring strain. The severity of the injury is still unclear.

This setback could affect his chances of securing a deal at Victoria Park, but with teenage forward Max Storey joining Blyth Spartans on loan, Pools might still be in the market for another attacking option.

Although Mottley-Henry missed Saturday’s final pre-season game, a 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest B, as he recovers, Sarll hasn’t ruled out a future deal for the winger.

“Potentially,” Sarll said. “I don’t know the extent of the injury yet. He came off due to a hamstring injury, but we need to let things settle to provide the best possible assessment. He’ll see our physio next week, and we should know more then.

“Dylan has been great while with us, showing a willingness to give it everything. He’s given himself a chance, and even though I’ve only been here a short time, I know that effort is highly valued at this football club. There could be a reward for those who put in that amount of effort.”
