Darren Moore makes exceptional admission on Bolton Wanderers friendly

Port Vale boss Darren Moore says his side will gain valuable insights from their friendly against “top opposition” in Wanderers. The Whites secured a 3-0 victory at Vale Park with goals from Aaron Collins, Victor Adeboyejo, and Dion Charles.

Moore emphasized the importance of challenging the squad in pre-season as they prepare for the upcoming League Two campaign.

“It was a really good runout against top, top opposition,” he told the club channels. “We chose to have a tough pre-season, and finishing with a game like that was beneficial. The match unfolded exactly as I expected against quality opposition who tested us both on and off the ball. The boys had a high-level workout and undoubtedly benefited from the game.”

The Valiants, who were relegated from League One following a 2-0 defeat at the Toughsheet Community Stadium in April, have seen many changes over the summer.

When asked what his players would take from the game, Moore added: “Certainly the organization against strong opposition. If you’re not quite on it, if you don’t get your front foot press right, they will exploit that. I think we learned the importance of getting it absolutely spot on. The speed at which they moved the ball was exceptional at times, and we’re talking about a team four years in the making. This is a detailed team with the goal of winning League One next season, so there’s no disgrace for our players.

“Sometimes, to understand and learn, you have to play in games like that to experience the level of quality you need to reach. From a learning perspective and understanding the game, we definitely gained insights both in and out of possession.”
