Salford Red Devils clash with key selection decisions debated

Leeds Rhinos aim to revitalize their Super League play-off push on Saturday evening as they travel to face Salford Red Devils.

A victory against Paul Rowley’s side could ignite the race for the top six, while a defeat could leave them with significant ground to make up. As Brad Arthur acknowledged upon taking charge at AMT Headingley, the Rhinos have several crucial four-point games ahead, and this matchup is certainly one of them.

Team selection appears straightforward following the Rhinos’ impressive win at Huddersfield Giants last weekend, but there are still several key decisions to consider.

The primary question is who will fill the spot vacated by Sam Eseh Jr. The Wigan Warriors loanee delivered arguably his best performance in a Rhinos shirt last week but was then recalled and subsequently loaned out to Hull FC a few days later.

Fortunately, Justin Sangare is back from injury and is expected to be a direct replacement for Eseh, slotting into the starting lineup. Another key player, Sam Lisone, is best utilized coming off the bench.

Mickael Goudemand is also returning from injury, but finding a place for him in the 17 poses a challenge. He could replace either James Bentley or James Donaldson, but Bentley needs game-time to build his return, and there is a strong case for Donaldson, who has been one of the Rhinos’ most effective forwards since his comeback.
