JUST IN: The next AC Milan signing has been confirmed

The Magpies bid emotional farewells to Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett, whose contracts expired at the end of the season. However, neither has secured a new club yet, although both have been linked with Sheffield United.

Of the senior players who departed, Kelland Watts is the only one to have found a new team, signing a two-year deal with League One side Cambridge United.

Jeff Hendrick remains a free agent, as does Loris Karius, though that could soon change for the latter. Karius was released by Newcastle United at the end of last season, a move expected due to his partner Diletta Leotta’s desire for him to play in Italy.

Karius, who got married earlier this summer, could potentially fulfill his wife’s wish. According to Calciomercato, he has been offered as a possible signing for AC Milan. The Serie A giants hadn’t planned on signing a goalkeeper this summer but are reconsidering after an injury to Marco Sportiello.

Simone Scuffet is another target for AC Milan, and they have also been offered Rui Patricio. Karius hopes to be the one chosen. The German spent nearly two years at Newcastle United, making just two appearances, one of which was the 2023 Carabao Cup final. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t help the Magpies end their trophy drought.

Nonetheless, he was valued by Eddie Howe, who has since brought in John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos as replacements.
