JUST IN: Panthers to meet with star’s management over future

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Brian To’o may not remain with the Penrith Panthers in 2025. The future of the star winger is uncertain as his management and the club are set to meet on Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning, Channel 9’s Danny Weidler reported that To’o could be looking for a new club starting from the 2025 season, despite being contracted with the Panthers until the end of 2027.

However, Penrith Panthers CEO Matt Cameron refuted these claims, stating to the Western Weekender that the club had made no attempt to shop To’o. “There is nothing going on with Brian To’o. He is a vital part of our club, and we are not shopping him around,” Cameron said. “He is here until 2027 and hopefully beyond.”

It has now surfaced that the report about To’o’s future might have originated from the player and his management. Despite being contracted until 2027, To’o is paid significantly below market value at the Panthers. The star winger, a regular for the New South Wales Blues State of Origin side, has expressed a desire to stay with the Panthers long-term, though the club has recently lost some of his close teammates, including Jarome Luai.

The Panthers are reportedly standing firm and will not release To’o, who is believed to earn approximately $650,000 per year. In comparison, his Blues Origin wing partner Zac Lomax is expected to earn around $800,000 per year with the Parramatta Eels next year.

This situation might prompt To’o to seek an exit from the club, with other Sydney-based teams showing interest in the star winger. To’o has an impressive record, having played 107 NRL games, 12 Origins for New South Wales, and 9 Tests for Samoa.
