JUST IN: Celtics extend contract of another key player – see details

On Sunday, the Celtics made another significant move to secure their core players for the long term.

Just weeks after finalizing long-term extensions for Derrick White and Jayson Tatum, the 2024 NBA champions reportedly reached a new agreement with Sam Hauser. According to Hauser’s agent, Jason Glushon, who spoke with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Hauser and the Celtics agreed on a four-year, $45 million contract.

In late June, Boston ensured Hauser’s participation in their title defense by picking up his $2.1 million option. By extending his contract, the Celtics prevented Hauser from entering free agency next summer, where he might have commanded a higher price after another standout season.

Last season, Hauser ranked fourth in the league in 3-point percentage among qualifying players and was instrumental in the Celtics’ Finals victory. Undrafted from Virginia in 2021, Hauser played key minutes in the Finals, averaging nearly 16 minutes per game in the series against Dallas.

The 26-year-old is coming off a season where he set career highs in points, rebounds, assists, minutes per game, and free-throw percentage. If Hauser continues to improve, the Celtics will be even more formidable in the 2024-25 season.
