Atlanta United doubts for Miranchuk as Atalanta push for sale

Atlanta United are close to securing a deal for Atalanta forward Aleksey Miranchuk, but the Russian player is reluctant to leave Bergamo.

The 28-year-old has been with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side since September 2020, joining from Lokomotiv Moscow for around €14.5 million. He excelled during his first two years at the club but has seen his form decline in recent seasons, spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Torino.

In recent weeks, several MLS clubs, including DC United and Atlanta United, have shown serious interest in Miranchuk. Atlanta United has made significant progress in talks with Atalanta regarding the move.

Despite the Russian forward’s reluctance to leave Bergamo and his contentment with being part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad, there is still optimism that the deal can be completed in the coming days.
