ESPN’s Paul Finebaum Drops TRUTH BOMBSHELL on Alabama Football Team’s Depth for 2024 Season

The Alabama Crimson Tide football program boasts one of the top quarterbacks in college football with Jalen Milroe. However, the depth behind him might be a concern.

ESPN’s Paul Finebaum addressed how Alabama’s quarterback situation stacks up against the Texas Longhorns’ during SEC Media Days, sharing his insights on the matter.

“Alabama doesn’t really have an automatic backup. They have good players, Ty Simpson is fantastic, but we don’t know that much about him.

But Texas has the most famous backup in the sport, Arch Manning. So if something goes haywire with Quinn Ewers, Texas has a plan. It won’t be the end of the world; it will be at Alabama.”

Ty Simpson, a former five-star recruit from Martin (TN), has all the tools to become a good quarterback. He just hasn’t proven it yet.

In limited action, Simpson is 15-for-25 for 214 passing yards in his college career. However, it was his performance in a 17-3 win over South Florida that left a lasting impression on how he is viewed compared to Alabama’s starter.

Simpson is often linked to Alabama’s struggles against South Florida. While he didn’t have the worst statistical day, going 5-for-9 for 73 yards, concerns remain.

Despite Simpson’s promising abilities, Paul Finebaum worries about the team’s performance if Milroe is unable to play. Finebaum believes the Tide needs its starter to stay healthy to return to the College Football Playoff.

Alabama will begin its season against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Aug. 31.
