Barrow Raiders player sounds call to arms ahead of Sheffield Eagles clash

Barrow Raiders’ hooker Aaron Smith has issued a rallying cry ahead of the crucial home clash this Sunday against Sheffield Eagles.

Smith, a seasoned player, recognizes the importance of securing a win to recover from three consecutive defeats that have left the Raiders second to last, just behind local rivals Whitehaven on points differential.

Despite a 22-2 defeat against Batley Bulldogs on Sunday, Smith sees positives in Barrow’s performance and believes the squad has what it takes to defeat second-in-the-table Sheffield.

Smith said, “We just need to stick together, focus on our game, and put in a full 80-minute performance to be proud of. We need to fix a few things from the last few weeks, and we’re confident we can get a result against Sheffield.”

The 27-year-old, with his experience at St Helens and Leigh Leopards, is a respected figure in the Barrow squad. He also noted that Sheffield suffered an unexpected defeat last week, losing 34-22 at home to Swinton.

“Sheffield will be looking to bounce back after that defeat, but so are we,” Smith added. “We need to focus on what we need to do and not worry too much about anything outside our camp.

“It’s important for us to stick together, look forward, and start grinding out some wins to climb the ladder. We know what our group is capable of, and we need to start showing that with our performances.”
