Steffi Graf’s husband Gushing Over her Before Heading for Wimbledon Is the Cutest Thing You’ll See Today

Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf are one of tennis’ most famous couples. The pair met at Wimbledon in the ’90s, early in their careers, and married in 2001. Last week, Agassi attended the Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, prompting many to revisit a heartwarming video where he discusses the impact of meeting Graf and his admiration for her tennis skills.

The video shared by the Australian Open account in June captured Andre Agassi reflecting on the moment he first met Steffi Graf. “I remember saying to myself, ‘One day I’m gonna marry her,'” he joked, initially surprising the panel moderator. “Really?” the moderator asked. “I’m kidding, I was 18 years old,” Agassi clarified, prompting laughter. He then became more serious, expressing his deep admiration for Graf’s tennis skills and demeanor on the court.

“She was always so graceful with the way she played. I envied everybody that had something that I didn’t have,” Agassi recalled. “Her clarity and professionalism… you know, I was just an emotional wreck when I was a teenager.”

“I always marveled at how she could do it so quietly.”

Since their marriage, Agassi has openly expressed his admiration for Graf, revealing in his memoir, ‘Open,’ that he had been smitten with her long before they met. “I’ve had a crush on Steffi since I first saw her doing an interview on French TV,” he wrote. “I was thunderstruck, dazzled by her understated grace, her effortless beauty.”

They formally met in 1992, after both winning Wimbledon. Despite initial confusion due to Graf having a boyfriend and Agassi being married to Brooke Shields (who they were in the midst of divorcing), they eventually began a relationship. They now have two children together, Jaden and Jaz.
