Latest Injury news: Parish closes in, disappointment for Baldwin

Midfielder Darcy Parish is aiming to return to play in the next couple of weeks as he continues to recover from a troublesome calf injury. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since round 10 due to a reaggravation of the injury in June. His imminent return is expected to boost the Bombers’ clearance game as they head into the final weeks of the home-and-away season.

In less favorable news, defender Kaine Baldwin has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season due to ongoing symptoms from a navicular stress injury. Despite efforts to manage his recovery, including variations in his rehabilitation program, Baldwin’s condition hasn’t improved sufficiently. General Manager – AFL Daniel McPherson stated, “The remaining time in the AFL season doesn’t allow for him to complete a conservative rehab program, return to training, and regain fitness to play. After discussions with Kaine, we’ve made the decision to rule him out for the remainder of the season.”

Meanwhile, mid-season draftee Saad El-Hawli is expected to return from a syndesmosis injury within the next 3-4 weeks. Additionally, young key defender Zach Reid has progressed well post-surgery for a pectoral rupture; he’s out of his sling and has started running again.
