JUST IN: the next Port Vale signing has been confirmed

Queen’s Park has reached an agreement with Port Vale for the transfer of Ruari Paton to the English League 2 side for an undisclosed fee.

Ruari was only with Queen’s Park for one season following his move from Queen of the South, but he made a significant impact by scoring 22 goals.

The Dublin-born 23-year-old began this season by scoring in friendly matches against Kilmarnock and Celtic. However, he did not feature in Saturday’s win at Peterhead as he had traveled south for discussions with the Stoke-on-Trent club.

With these discussions concluded, the clubs have agreed to the transfer. Queen’s Park’s Callum Davidson commented, “It is no surprise that Ruari has attracted interest and secured a transfer to English football. He was fantastic for us last season, and people in football are always looking out for goalscorers, so we thought something might happen this summer.

“It has now, and we wish him well.”
