Hartlepool United have confirmed the acquisition of Irish midfielder Greg Sloggett. The 28-year-old becomes manager Darren Sarll’s fifth signing of the summer and his third addition to the midfield, following a brief stint at Cheltenham where he made two League One appearances.
Born in Gormanston, Ireland, Sloggett is known for his broad-shouldered, box-to-box style. He began his career at University College Dublin, helping them secure the League of Ireland First Division title in 2018. Subsequently, he played for Derry City and Dundalk, amassing over 100 appearances for the latter and even featuring in the Europa League in 2020.
Sloggett joins midfielders Jack Hunter and Nathan Sheron to bolster Hartlepool’s midfield lineup, just in time for their pre-season trip to Scarborough Athletic on Tuesday night.

Manager Darren Sarll expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting Sloggett’s versatility, including his ability to play in central defense.
