Report: Massive Atlanta Falcons-Miami Dolphins trade is guaranteed

The Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins are heading into the 2024 season with playoff aspirations. The Dolphins remain confident in their high-powered offense, which they believe is among the most electric in the league. Meanwhile, the Falcons have bolstered their roster by acquiring quarterback Kirk Cousins and surrounding him with numerous offensive weapons.

However, a recent report indicates that the two teams might soon engage in business.

Marissa Myers of TWSN reports:

With the NFL offseason in full swing, predictions and bold takes abound, particularly regarding trades that could happen before the season or the deadline.

One intriguing trade option is Kyle Pitts, who, if moved, might find a new home with the Miami Dolphins.

Drafted in the top five of the 2021 NFL Draft, Kyle Pitts entered the league with high expectations. However, he hasn’t fully lived up to those expectations with the Atlanta Falcons. Over the past three seasons, Pitts has accumulated 2,049 yards and six touchdowns on 14 receptions, averaging 13.8 yards per catch. The Falcons’ run-heavy scheme under Arthur Smith limited Pitts’ potential.

While Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson could change Pitts’ utilization, the Falcons might consider trading him if they fall short of expectations. Acquiring draft capital early in their regime would allow them to build the team they envision.

Pitts, with his elite receiving skills and ability to play as a wide receiver, is the Falcons’ best asset for high-value returns. This is where the Dolphins come into play. They already boast a strong receiver duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, but with Tua Tagovailoa entering a crucial season, maximizing offensive potential is imperative.

If Hill or Waddle misses time, the Dolphins’ receiver depth is not ideal, and their tight end position needs improvement. Although Mike McDaniel didn’t utilize Mike Gesicki effectively in 2022, the tight end position must be a focal point moving forward.

As a team in contention, the Dolphins need to consider changes if they fall short of expectations. Adding a talent like Pitts, who can be utilized all over the field, would provide Tagovailoa with another go-to option in high-pressure situations and help elevate the offense.

It would be particularly shocking to see the Falcons move on from Pitts, given his potential to be a centerpiece in any offense at the tight end position. Players of his caliber are rare.

However, a player of Pitts’ talent could command multiple premium draft picks in a trade. If the Dolphins believe they are just one or two pieces away from being Super Bowl contenders, they might offer a trade package that’s too good for the Falcons to refuse.

Regardless, Pitts’ future in Atlanta will be a storyline to watch closely in the near future.
