£34 Bayer Leverkusen star dreams of joining Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong reportedly has his sights set on playing for Liverpool.

The Reds led the Premier League for most of last season, but a late collapse saw them finish third.

New manager Arne Slot is keen to enhance the squad’s quality and depth as he seeks to break Manchester City’s grip on the English top-flight.

Liverpool is actively pursuing a deal for Frimpong, who has received high praise for his performances in Germany.

The Merseyside club has received a boost in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, who has a £34 million release clause in his contract.

According to Bild (July 10, Page 10), Frimpong is interested in joining only three clubs: Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
Frimpong is a highly versatile player, primarily operating as a right midfielder last season.

The Dutch footballer was instrumental in helping Leverkusen break Bayern Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga last term.

The 23-year-old featured in 47 games across all competitions, contributing 26 goals.

Currently, he is with the Netherlands national team at Euro 2024, having played in three matches so far.

Liverpool has yet to sign a first-team star under manager Arne Slot, but they are expected to strengthen the squad before the summer transfer window closes. Goalkeeper Adrian has left after five years at Anfield, along with Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, while Calvin Ramsay has been loaned to Wigan Athletic.

Frimpong would be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool, and they should make every effort to secure a deal for him.
