Released Cobblers striker on trial at League One rival

Danny Hylton, recently released by the Cobblers at the end of last season, is currently undergoing a trial with Charlton Athletic.

He shares a strong bond with Addicks manager Nathan Jones, stemming from their successful partnership at Luton Town.

Hylton made a surprising appearance as a substitute in Charlton’s pre-season friendly against Dartford last Saturday, scoring the sixth goal in their 6-1 victory.

“I’m very familiar with Danny Hylton,” remarked Jones. “I know his capabilities inside out. He’s possibly one of my best signings ever, considering all aspects.

Therefore, I don’t need to assess him. At our club, we have several young strikers, and if they can emulate Danny Hylton’s dedication and certain qualities, they’ll undoubtedly have promising careers.”

“We have Daniel Kanu, and if you look at TC (Tyreece Campbell) today up top, nobody has really utilized him in that position, but we believe that’s where he excels the most.

If he can learn from experienced professionals like Danny, then they’re destined for successful careers.”
