JUST IN: Danny Rohl quizzed on 26-year-old’s immediate future amid Sheffield Wednesday transfer link

Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with Scott Wright, but the winger has traveled with Rangers for their pre-season trip to the Netherlands, according to The Scottish Sun.

Sheffield Wednesday are actively seeking further signings after a productive summer transfer window and have been linked with several potential additions.

Rangers winger Wright is reportedly on their radar. The 26-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract with the Scottish giants, could potentially move ahead of the next season.

Last season, Wright contributed four goals in 33 games but has primarily played a supporting role at Ibrox since joining from Aberdeen.

As rumors about Sheffield Wednesday’s interest intensify, The Scottish Sun reports that Wright is traveling to the Netherlands for Rangers’ pre-season training campaign. This development suggests that, while interest from Sheffield Wednesday may exist, a move for Wright is not imminent.

The new developments regarding Scott Wright arise amid questions posed to Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl about a potential move for the Rangers winger.

sheffield wednesday, Update emerges on 26-year-old’s immediate future amid Sheffield Wednesday transfer question

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the German manager declined to be drawn into specifics when asked about a possible swoop for Wright. He refrained from mentioning any names, stating:

“I will not speak about names because it makes no sense.

“This market goes so quick. We have an idea of who we want to have, I have an idea of how I want to play in the new season.

“We know what we have to improve when we look back from the last season and then it’s about finding the right pieces to make our squad stronger and stronger because we are very ambitious for the new season.”

Wright man for the job?

Sheffield Wednesday are in the market for more attacking recruits this summer, having already signed Jamal Lowe and Olaf Kobacki. While a striker is likely a priority, additional wide players might be targeted depending on departures.

Scott Wright can play on both the left and right wings, and he also operates as an attacking midfielder at times. His versatility would provide Danny Rohl with more options, as many of Rohl’s attackers are capable of playing in multiple roles.

Although Wright hasn’t been the most productive in terms of goals and assists at Rangers, with 12 goals and seven assists in 117 appearances, he boasts serious pace. Under Rohl’s guidance, he could develop into a more productive and dangerous winger.

If a deal can be made at a reasonable price, Wright could prove to be a smart signing for Sheffield Wednesday. However, with Rohl remaining tight-lipped and Wright heading to the Netherlands for Rangers’ training camp, it remains to be seen if this deal will come to fruition.
