BREAKING: Millwall Dealt Blow As Target Set To Make £3.8 Million Switch

Millwall are eyeing Charlie Cresswell as he prepares to depart Leeds United this summer, with the Yorkshire club agreeing on a transfer fee with French side Toulouse.

Last season, the central defender fell out of favor at Elland Road under manager Daniel Farke. The German coach emphasized that Cresswell needed to be “mentally ready” before reclaiming his place in the squad. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United put Cresswell up for sale, seeking a transfer fee in the range of £4-5 million.

Millwall had expressed interest in signing Charlie Cresswell back in January, along with Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, and Ipswich Town (now promoted to the Premier League).

However, Millwall faced competition from abroad for the 21-year-old’s signature. Journalist Alan Nixon reported that German club Hannover and French side Toulouse were monitoring Cresswell’s situation at Leeds United, with Toulouse now emerging victorious in the battle for his transfer. Leeds United have confirmed the undisclosed fee agreement with Toulouse, reported to be around £3.8 million, slightly less than their initial asking price earlier in the year as confirmed by BBC Sport.

In other transfer news, Toulouse have also made moves in the market, recently submitting a seven-figure bid for MK Dons star Max Dean. Meanwhile, Millwall has announced their first signing of the summer window, securing Notts County center-forward Macauley Langstaff.

Cresswell previously spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Millwall from Leeds, where he impressed with 30 appearances and five goals, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.

While Millwall had hoped to bring Cresswell back to The Den to bolster their defense, they will now need to explore other options ahead of the upcoming season.
