Another key Swan turns back on rival interest to re-sign

Sydney has successfully fended off interest from Fremantle and Collingwood, securing the tall forward until the end of 2028. The deal, as anticipated on Gettable earlier this week, will see him through to free agency after his eighth season with the Swans.

Logan McDonald has extended his stay with the Swans, becoming the latest player to re-sign.

This extension follows the re-signings of Errol Gulden, Will Hayward, Ollie Florent, and James Rowbottom, marking a significant achievement as the Swans retain their core group of out-of-contract players heading into the upcoming season.

McDonald’s decision to stay with the club comes after a notable week, highlighted by his kick after the siren against Fremantle, which narrowly missed, ending the Swans’ 10-game winning streak with a one-point defeat.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to continue wearing the red and white jersey. This place feels like home to me. I’ve been here for four years now, and I’m excited to stay for another four,” McDonald expressed.

“My teammates are not just teammates; they’re my best mates, the people I live with, and see every day—they’re my second family. With the list in such an exciting position right now, my goal is simply to compete, win games, and hopefully achieve some premierships.

“There’s no substitute for happiness. I’m genuinely happy here with the people around me at this footy club, and no amount of money could tempt me to leave. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue my journey here.”

McDonald has been in stellar form this season, scoring 22 goals from 15 games, adding to his tally of 78 goals in 59 games with the club.

The West Australian was selected as the No. 4 pick in the 2020 draft, joining the Swans alongside Academy talents Gulden and Campbell.
