BREAKING: Another player has exited Saint Mirren

St Mirren Football Club announces that James Bolton has transferred to English League Two side Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee, pending clearance.

Although James signed a one-year contract extension in February, he expressed his desire to return to England for family reasons.

During his season at St Mirren, James made 26 appearances, starting in 15 of them, and scored one goal.

Manager Stephen Robinson stated, “James made it clear he wanted to leave the club for family reasons, so we have secured the best possible deal for both the club and the player. We thank James for his efforts and wish him good luck in the future.”

St Mirren have secured Shrewsbury Town midfielder Roland Idowu on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old Dubliner is the club’s fourth signing of the summer after inking the deal at the SMiSA Stadium. Idowu made 10 appearances for the Shrews following his January transfer from League of Ireland Premier Division side Waterford, where he had an impressive stint.

Despite signing a two-and-a-half year contract with Shrewsbury, Idowu will spend the 2024-25 season playing in the William Hill Premiership.

“I’m delighted to be here,” Idowu shared with the club’s website. “I’ve heard a lot about the club and had good conversations with the manager, Stephen Robinson, and assistant manager, Diarmuid O’Carroll. I’m really happy and excited about what the club is aiming for this season.

“I know Richard Taylor from our time playing together, and he spoke highly of the club. I’ve seen what the club achieved last season and their ambition to go further. I just want to come in and contribute to that effort.”
