One dead, four injured in Ayrshire horror crash

The road remained closed for ten hours as crash investigators conducted a thorough examination of the scene.

Tragically, a man lost his life, and four other individuals were injured in a serious accident in Ayrshire yesterday.

The incident occurred when a silver Skoda Octavia collided with a motorbike around 3.10pm on the A719 Waterside, heading towards the A77 Ayr Road.

Police confirmed today that the 56-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the car escaped injury, but four female passengers were transported to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

Authorities have notified the motorcyclist’s next of kin, although formal identification is pending.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have information about the incident.

Police Sergeant Gordon Stewart of the Road Policing Unit stated, “Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased motorcyclist.”

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash-cam footage and has not yet spoken to officers is urged to come forward as soon as possible.

“The road reopened around 1am on Sunday, June 16, 2024. We appreciate the public’s patience during our investigation into this serious collision.”
