Geelong cats has confirmed the departure of manager

Geelong Cats Physical Performance Manager Scott Murphy will leave the Club at the end of the season to take on a new role with Rugby Australia.

Murphy joined the Cats at the end of 2014, and his 10-year tenure has been marked by his significant contributions to seven Finals series and the 2022 Premiership.

Before joining Geelong, Murphy had an extensive career in high performance, including roles with the Wallabies, various European rugby clubs, the Brisbane Lions, and the Australian Olympic track and field teams.

Geelong Cats General Manager of Football Andrew Mackie expressed gratitude for Murphy’s substantial contributions over the past decade.

“Scott has been an integral part of the Club during his time at the Cats, and our players and staff have greatly benefited from his expertise and experience. He has worked incredibly hard as a dedicated member of our football program and shown a great commitment to our players to help them perform at their best. We look forward to Scott continuing to lead our performance team until the end of our season.”

Reflecting on his decision, Murphy said, “Geelong is an exceptional Club, and I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people throughout my time here. I will always be grateful for my time at Geelong.”
