NC State makes Top 8 for QB Quinn Murphy

Quinn Murphy, a 2026 quarterback prospect, has added NC State to his list of top choices after receiving an offer during a recent camp.

Quinn Murphy, the 2026 quarterback prospect from Argyle (Tex.) Liberty Christian, has named NC State among his Top 8 schools after receiving an offer during a recent camp. Alongside NC State, Murphy’s list includes Baylor, Arkansas, Missouri, SMU, Minnesota, Miami, and Oklahoma State.

NC State’s quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper has been actively recruiting Murphy, culminating in an offer during Murphy’s unofficial visit on June 7. Murphy expressed his appreciation for Coach Roper’s efforts, mentioning, “Coach Roper has been in regular contact with me and visited my school several times. I wanted to reciprocate by attending the camp and putting in some work. It’s been a great experience working with him, visiting the campus, and meeting the other coaches.”

“I have an incredible relationship with Coach Roper, and it’s clear he’s not only a great family man but also someone with a track record of success at various stops. He knows what it takes to develop a great quarterback, and I really enjoy being around him because he’s honest and approachable.”

Last season, Murphy excelled with over 3,000 passing yards, 52 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. He also showcased his mobility with 242 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 54 carries as a sophomore at Austin Regents High in Texas.

Before receiving an offer from NC State, Murphy arrived early for the camp and had the opportunity to tour the facilities, meet the coaching staff, and interact with the players. It was his first visit to Raleigh, and he was impressed by the hospitality.

“As soon as I arrived, I thought, ‘Wow, this place is stunning,'” Murphy recalled. “The facilities really stood out to me, and the people here have been amazing. The campus is fantastic, and everyone I’ve encountered has been so welcoming. The coaches and players take the time to greet you and have meaningful conversations, which has been really special.”

Murphy is currently ranked as the No. 427 overall player and the No. 36 quarterback in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Texas native has not yet set a timeline for his decision but remains a prospect to keep an eye on for the Wolfpack.
