Connell Rawlinson has officially left Meadow Lane by mutual agreement, concluding a memorable five-year stint at the historic club.

In response to his departure, Rawlinson shared a heartfelt message of gratitude, reflecting on his impactful journey with Notts County.

Rawlinson’s statement encapsulates his dedication and experiences at the club: “It’s been quite a ride. I’ve given my blood, sweat, and tears to this cause, and it has been worth every second. The club has given my family and me memories that will last forever, and I will always be grateful for that.”

Rawlinson joined at the start of Notts County’s first season in the National League and quickly became a regular first-team player. His dedicated and passionate performances earned him the Fans’ Player of the Year award and the shared title of Players’ Player alongside Kyle Wootton.

Reflecting on his journey, Rawlinson said, “Playing for a historic club like Notts County has been an honor and privilege. I’ve approached every game with that in mind and given my all, and I hope that showed.”

Rawlinson was a key player throughout his time in the fifth tier of English football. His dedication was aptly rewarded when Cedwyn Scott’s penalty secured the club’s return to the English Football League (EFL), a goal Rawlinson always aimed for. “I take pride in knowing that I accomplished what I set out to do when I signed for the club years ago, which was to help the club get back to the football league,” Rawlinson remarked.

Rawlinson, appreciative of the fans’ support, added, “Thanks to the fans who have always played a massive part in my journey at Meadow Lane. I tried to give as much time as I could to you because you are literally the backbone of this football club, so thank you.”

As he departs Meadow Lane as a fan, Rawlinson expressed his best wishes for the club’s future. “I want to wish the club, players, and staff all the very best for the coming season. I’ll be keeping a keen eye on what I hope is another successful season for the club.”

Board member Richard Montague also expressed gratitude for Rawlinson’s contributions, stating, “Connell’s contribution throughout his time at Meadow Lane is hugely appreciated by everyone.”

In his final words to the fans, Rawlinson poignantly shared, “I signed here as a player, but I can honestly say I’m leaving as a fan. The club will forever hold a special place in my heart. You know the saying, ‘once a Pie, always a Pie.’ Thank you so much.”

As Connell Rawlinson bids farewell to Meadow Lane, his heartfelt message resonates deeply with fans, marking the end of an era for a defender who truly gave his all to the club.
