BREAKING: NC State lands top OG target Michael Gibbs

The Wolfpack secures its top interior offensive lineman target for the 2025 class as Michael Gibbs announces his commitment after an official visit.

RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State continues to strengthen its 2025 class with the commitment of another top target, Michael Gibbs. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound lineman from Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard made his decision public after his visit to Raleigh, sharing a video on social media highlighting his initial offer from NC State.

The Wolfpack was the first Power 4 program to offer Gibbs last summer, leaving a lasting impression on the in-state lineman. Between the Pack’s early interest and the relationship he built with Garret Tujague, Gibbs frequently visited Raleigh and consistently had State at or near the top of his list.

“I really like coach Tujague,” Gibbs said last fall. “He’s a great guy with a lot of character. He has a good way of doing things, and I like it. I actually talked with him a lot last weekend when I visited. He asked me about the playoffs and wanted to know how I was doing. He told me to keep doing what I’m doing and said I’ve improved a lot since camp. He’s a really good guy.”

Gibbs’ eventual list of offers was impressive, including Penn State, Virginia Tech, Duke, Virginia, USF, Appalachian State, and several others. He’s currently the starting left tackle at Hoggard but is expected to move to guard at the next level when he arrives in Raleigh.

Since receiving his offer from the Pack, Gibbs has rapidly grown into one of the top offensive linemen in the state, ranking as the No. 23 overall player in North Carolina with a high three-star rating. Despite the many offers and his growth, the Pack has remained a constant presence, keeping his interest in NC State high.

“I love NC State,” Gibbs said last fall. “First, I went to the junior day, and my parents and I really liked the coaches’ beliefs and morals. And then the game day — that’s really selling it right now. I’m a State fan. It started off last summer when I went to their camp. I really like their program, facilities, and coaching staff.”

Pack Pride will have more on Gibbs’ commitment in the near future.
