Peterborough Phantoms snatch forward from League rivals

The 22-year-old competed in 98 games and scored 20 points over two NIHL seasons with Sheffield.

Palmer progressed through Sheffield’s junior system before moving to the Nottingham Lions in NIHL 1, where he played 53 games, recording eight goals and eight assists.

During the 2022-2023 season, Palmer was selected as captain of the Great Britain University team during their campaign in the United States.

Phantoms head coach Slava Koulikov praised Tom Palmer, stating, “Every coach and player I have spoken to only has good things to say about Tom. He is young and hungry, capable of playing in the top six positions and excelling on role lines.”

Koulikov continued, describing Palmer as “a responsible player who understands hockey well on and off the puck, and is not afraid to go into the tough areas. He has great potential, takes hockey seriously, and I am looking forward to working with him next season.”

Palmer himself expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Phantoms, saying, “I am excited to be joining Phantoms and looking forward to continuing my own personal development. Slava is building a strong side capable of competing on all fronts, and I hope I can contribute to the team’s success next season.”

In addition to Palmer, Phantoms have also signed netminders Hayden Lavigne and Luke Clark, along with Finnish forward Janne Laakkonen. However, the club has seen departures including netminders Jordan Marr and Tyler De La Bertouche, as well as forward Lukas Sladkovsky, who has relocated to the United States after scoring 174 points over two seasons at Planet Ice.
