Former Newport County AFC defender Cameron Norman has surprised many by transferring between League Two clubs.
Despite having a season remaining on his contract with Milton Keynes Dons, the 28-year-old has opted to join Tranmere Rovers on a two-year deal.
Norman enjoyed a successful stint with Newport County, playing in every one of their 92 league matches over two seasons and reaching a milestone of 100 appearances. His decision to stay in League Two after his contract expired came as a surprise to many.
Following his move to Milton Keynes, Norman featured in 43 games for the Dons, who faced a disappointing play-off semi-final defeat against Crawley.
After being signed by Graham Alexander, the defender was permitted to depart under Dons manager Mike Williamson’s leadership to pursue promotion in Birkenhead.
“It’s a fantastic club with ambitious goals, and I’m thrilled to join,” said Norman, who boasts versatility, capable of playing wing-back, full-back, or on the right of a central three.
