Report: 26 y/o player wants to leave Ibrox as Rangers in talks for new signing

Rangers goalkeeper Robby McCrorie is reportedly keen on leaving Ibrox during the summer transfer window, as per the Daily Record. Manager Philippe Clement has been actively clearing out surplus players to make space for new signings, resulting in several senior players departing from the squad.

McCrorie, who came up through Rangers’ youth system, has seen limited action with just seven senior appearances for the club so far. Despite loan spells at various clubs, the 26-year-old is now at a stage in his career where he seeks regular playing time and aims to secure a move to a club where he can feature regularly.

Jack Butland holds the position of first-choice goalkeeper at the Scottish club, making it challenging for Robby McCrorie to secure playing time at Ibrox. Given this situation, Rangers are likely willing to let McCrorie depart if a suitable offer comes in. Philippe Clement is reportedly seeking another goalkeeper who can provide strong competition for Butland’s starting spot.

It seems there’s been a mix-up. Liam Kelly actually started his career at Rangers but never played a senior game for them. He has been linked with a move to Rangers after the Euro 2024 Championship, where he’s representing Scotland. His potential transfer to Rangers on a free basis could indeed be an excellent opportunity for him to return to the club and demonstrate his capabilities, given his wealth of experience.

It appears there might be a misunderstanding. As of my last update, there’s no specific information available regarding Mason Munn’s contract status or his potential role as the third-choice goalkeeper at Rangers. However, if Rangers are indeed looking to bring in Liam Kelly, it could imply a restructuring of their goalkeeping options, possibly affecting Robby McCrorie’s future at the club.
