New player joins Yeovil Town on loan from premier League

Yeovil Town have secured the services of goalkeeper Ollie Wright on a season-long loan from Premier League side Southampton.

This marks Wright’s third loan spell away from St Mary’s. He began last season at his hometown club Bath City in the National League South, where he recorded four clean sheets in 15 appearances.

Unfortunately, a dislocated shoulder during his time with Tonbridge Angels in October cut short his spell with the Romans. However, he later played for Worthing, featuring in their Promotion Final defeat to Braintree Town.

Remarkably, all three clubs Wright was involved with during the 2023/24 season reached the play-offs.

Wright will compete with Will Buse at Huish Park, who replaced him at Bath following his injury.

Glovers boss Mark Cooper expressed his delight at securing the signing, telling the club’s official website:

“The process to finalize the deal was rigorous and required numerous presentations and conversations against other National League and Football League clubs to bring him here.

“Ollie has a commanding presence and made a strong impression when we faced him last season against Worthing.”
