Rotherham United To Compete For Free Agent Amid interest from Hibernian

Hibernian are interested in signing former Coventry City custodian Marko Marosi on a free transfer, with Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City all expressing an interest.

The 30-year-old is set to leave Shrewsbury when his contract ends at the end of June, and various clubs have been linked with his signing. Prior to joining the Shrews in 2021, he was with Barnoldswick Town, Wigan Athletic, Doncaster Rovers, and Coventry City.

After making 147 appearances for the League One side and keeping 35 clean sheets, Marosi was linked with Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City, Rotherham, and Wrexham before signing Arthur Okonkwo.

Alan Nixon reports that Hibernian is the latest club to be linked with a move for the former Slovakia youth international.

Where will Marko Marosi go next?

Marosi is a strong goalkeeper for the level, he has a tremendous amount of experience over his periods at Coventry City, Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town and on a free transfer is a bargain.

It was thought that he would be hooking up with Steve Evans at Rotherham United, with the Shropshire Star going so far as to state that the move was expected. However, as of today, he has yet to secure a new club, which could be due to the increased interest his availability has generated.

Wrexham are seemingly out of the race now after securing Okonkwo following his departure from Arsenal, which leaves the other two relegated Championship sides as well as Hibernian in the race.

Hibs are seemingly preparing for the departure of Wollacott, which despite his lack of appearances would leave the goalkeeping department lacking in depth.
