Georgia Bulldogs Star Named As Potential Top Pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Teams will use the 2025 NFL Draft to add fresh talent to their rosters in less than a year. Carson Beck, the standout quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs, is currently regarded as the top pick in the future.

As a four-star recruit, Carson Beck brought a lot of buzz to Georgia, but in his first two seasons, he had to wait behind starting quarterbacks Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels. Beck showed promise in his limited 2022 action, but it took longer than anticipated for him to establish himself as the Bulldogs’ full-time starter.

But Beck made the most of that opportunity to develop as a player and study, and his perseverance paid off in a standout 2023 season. With only 6 interceptions in his impressive 72.4% completion percentage, he completed 3,941 yards of passing with 24 touchdowns. Although he might not have the same inventiveness as other top quarterback prospects, the Bulldogs standout makes up for it with a superior blend of arm skill, processing speed, and accuracy.

Beck has the ability to become a real franchise quarterback who can turn an NFL team around from within the system thanks to his anticipation, situational accuracy, and adaptability from both the shotgun and under centre. He’s only been a full-time starter for a year, but now he seems like a natural fit at the next level.

NFL teams are already investigating Beck and how he would fit into their rosters as early as now. Chris Trapasso expounded on the reasons the Bulldogs quarterback is a possible first-round choice in a piece for CBS Sports.

“Beck is the most accurate returning starter in college football. His adjusted completion percentage of 80.6% in 2023 was the third-highest among all FBS quarterbacks who qualified for the game. His average depth of target (aDOT), at 8.5 yards, was noticeably higher than the two quarterbacks ahead of him, one of whom was Bo Nix (whose aDOT was 6.8).

Furthermore, Georgia is one of those teams that prefers to “reload, not rebuild,” so even if Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey are selected in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, Beck will still be able to throw to elite receivers and tight ends.

Above all, Beck must show that he can play off the field because this is now a must for every quarterback prospect hoping to get selected in the draft. I don’t think we can see that passer go first overall without it. However, in what is thought to be a “down” class at the position, Beck’s arm, which he can really spin, “screams” that he should be selected first overall, according to Trapasso.

Though the season is still early, a number of predictions have been made regarding which club will be selected first overall. According to a recent ESPN analysis, the New England Patriots have a 21.9 percent chance of selecting Beck first overall.

Whether the top quarterback for the Bulldogs has what it takes to be the first choice in the draft the next year is still up in the air. Regardless, NFL teams will be closely monitoring him to see how he progresses by then.
