Forward Jayden Stockley has left Fleetwood Town to join Port Vale for an unknown amount, the club can confirm.

Alongside former attacker Jack Marriott, the 30-year-old joined Fleetwood during the January transfer window of the 2022–2023 campaign.

In 59 games across all competitions, Stockley scored 13 goals, including one in his Highbury Stadium debut against Burton Albion.

He received the PFA Community Champion of the Year award from the club for the 2023–2024 campaign in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the neighbourhood.

We at Fleetwood Town hope that Jayden has the finest possible future.

Three other teams are in a standoff with Fleetwood Town over the signing of midfield player Kane Thompson-Sommers.

The player for FC Halifax Town had a significant role in the team that advanced to the National League Playoffs, where they lost to eventual finalists Solihull Moors over two legs.

He joined The Shaymen in July of last year after leaving Hereford United, and during their league season, he made 30 appearances, participating in 53% of the team’s minutes played and scoring one goal.

However, teams in higher divisions are showing a lot of interest in the 23-year-old; Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that Fleetwood is one of the parties seeking a deal.

According to the journalist, Charlie Adam’s team will go up against Salford City, a League Two team, for the former Birmingham City academy player. Motherwell, a Scottish Premiership team, and Sutton United, a newcomer to the National League, are also reportedly preparing bids.

After Gavin Kilkenny, Xavier Simons, and Bosun Lawal—all of whom started the season-ending game for Fleetwood—returned to their parent clubs following the expiration of their loan agreements, the Cod Army will need to bolster their midfield for their first campaign in the fourth division since 2014.

In a similar vein, Salford is going through their own reconstruction after losing club captain Elliot Watt to Burton Albion and letting go of Stevie Mallan after a poor League Two season in which they finished in 20th place.

Thompson-Sommers was put on the Yorkshire team’s retained list, and as they look to return to the National League playoffs, he has a deal to play for them next season.

Halifax lost a lot of face throughout the summer after losing in the playoffs. As a result of the departure of stalwarts like Tylor Golden and Jamie Stott for better possibilities, The Shay will undergo some sort of restructure during the summer. Even while Thompson-Sommers hasn’t played as much of a role in the team’s recent victories, he was crucial to their campaign to finish in the top seven last year.

Following their relegation from League One, Fleetwood Town finds itself in a similar situation. Purchasing from these clubs appears to be a safe bet for sides because the top half of the National League is thought to be comparable to League Two. If the midfielder moves to Highbury, he may learn from veterans like Danny Mayor and join a squad like Town, which is an established EFL club.
